GZ, China
arrive Aug 30, 2006
afternoon, taxi straight to Phoenix City Hotel
superb room, double single (queen) bed.. why can't they gimme a king size bed? the room so big, sleep alone.. i also dunno do what inside.. maybe can roll, roll n roll
2 queen size bed
clean, cozy and superbly design bathroom
a painting inside the bathroom
a huge garden outside my room, can sit outside n relax too.. or moon-tan also no problem
this phoenix city... dun pray2 lei, is a small city by itself,
only those rich n loaded can stay here cos very expensive.. and surprisingly, only got 1 market.. and the only hotel, is the phoenix city hotel (with a big phoenix statue in front of the city gate).
PC hotel to office is ard 20 mins while GZ city to hotel take ard 1.5 hours, so we got not much choice instead...
summer again
2nd summer trip after taoyuan, now guangzhou.. damn hot
i jalan2 a while only, sweat.. huh
this GZ city is vibrant and lively.. and surprisingly.. all the ppl here rather doing small business rather than work
so many fake goods here.. imagine in GZ, there's a whole area that are selling watches and is the main distribution center here. now i truly understand why many ppl always go 'tai luk' and get goods, i really know
beside watch centre, there's a distribution centre for leather goods too... so long as branded goods, u'll surely can find in GZ, solid man!
and in GZ, dun be surprise as most ppl also carrying big bag, small bag around.. and for foreigner like hongkie, s'porean, etc.. they'll pull their trolley bag.. these ppl are the 'get goods' ppl.. dun believe?
go GZ, over 10 ppls u see, 6 of them carrying bags or pulling trolley
oh.. but be extra careful at the train station there
train station whereby most ppl assemble there and waiting for their train.. and is the most dangerous place in GZ.
how dangerous?
along the stretch of that road.. u'll see a lots of police kiosk within 50 meters and the police is everywhere within sight
all the police kiosk equip with propaganda tools.. keep repeating the same words "dun accept anything, dun trust anyone or any hospitality especially from the same hometown ppl (lao xiang hao)", beware...
can you imagine that?
and in GZ city, they ban motorcycle to prevent snatch thief, a good move man, i applaud that for their initiative
taxi back from GZ to phoenix city hotel also damn expensive, sgd20+ per trip
and damn funny, no aircon one.. shit.. they open windows, damn it
after reach hotel, my jeans also wet.. my rmb in my jeans pocket.. wet.. damn, damn..

pLuTo
Come wander with me, she said,
Into regions yet untrod;
And read what is still unread
In the manuscripts of God.
Pluto - the planet, born in 1930 but living a short live and pass away last week precisely on August 24, 2006. It remains the only planet that has not been visited by a spacecraft.
Venetia Burney, 11 years old - the girl who named Pluto from Oxford, England
Pluto's diameter is about 18% of EARTH
Pluto's official status as a planet has always been a subject of controversy since its discovery and ratification by the IAU as a planet in 1930.
Reclassification as dwarf planet
Astronomers are reluctant to call an object a planet for the sake of simplicity and tradion.
3 main criteria/conditions for an object to be called a planet, according to the IAU resolution in 2006
- the object must be in orbit around a star, but not be star itself
- the object must be massive enough to be a sphere by its own gravitational force
- it must have cleared the neighborhood around its orbit
Pluto fails to meet these conditions (primarily condition 3) but will act as a prototype for a yet to be named category of Trans-Neptunian objects

JP is now officially my ex-colleague, there'll be another farewell coming soon for Serina Tan. i'm demoralized lately... suddenly so many of my colleagues leaving, started with my team member HF.
it is like the company i'm working for is under a transition period.. dunno good or bad.
JP is our lab engineer & i didn't manage to join both her farewell dinner and tea-break as i'm out of town and stuck with meeting, hence i arrange a separate dinner with her..which she feels much better.
so we have a short discussion and plan for a break and somehow i got a seminar on BI at town area that day, hence i able to meet JP for lunch & tea before joining others for a movie.
we tot of super-g but that stupid ww told me he got dvd.. damn, hence we switch to "CLICK" which turn out to be a nice movie too.
simply speaking - with a powerful universal remote controller, u can basically fast forward (skip) those unhappy moments in yr life but too bad, you can't reverse it... as time will never go backwards
is quite touching.. after the movie, u'll imagine and ask yrself : if time can turn backward, isn't it good?
after our movie, we go shopping n go watch grazing.. that stupid 7chiro, keep asking us to get an expensive watch, tag heuer or rolex
this morning i had breakfast with my buddies and he's also wearing a rolex.. he told me forget about tag heuer because his diving instructor keep telling him that so far, 7 of his student who wear Tag Heuer Aquaracer - water go into their watch.
rolex.. secure.
after shopping, we have dinner at one of the jap restaurant at cuppage road but the food is average only... and this ah tear, haha... to be continue : earthquake at swenson
ok.. here's are some of the snapshot

the big earthquake.. but we manage to wipe it clean...

sEiKo @ MuStAFa
lately got an urge to get a new watch for myself, or issit an excuse to waste money?
no..no..no..
i bought a few swatch, but most of them very plastic-ky.. over time, sayonara and 2 of my swatch cost me almost 200 bucks each
my only more formal watch is FOSSIL, acquired at least 6-7 years ago.. and still solid that cost me sgd250+
k.. lately my sis get one seiko from HK, then so coincidentally my housemate also get a seiko for himself. then last friday meet-up with my ex colleagues, aiseh.. another lady also get a new seiko
hmmph! ok lor.. the seiko is calling me!
onz lar..
so i seach thru web the new range (of course cheap-cheap one lar) of seiko and call up the authorized seiko distributor in s'pore, give them a specific model
the guy say.. come down, i give u a good price
i check the retail outlet.. cost sgd450 (seiko criteria)
no problem lar.. i go down after work on saturday and get it... and he gave me a so call best price around town cos he told me is a new model, can't discount much
sunday - no badminton, so jogging lor
as usual.. only the std route at my place, essex road to owen road, to farrer park, straight to mustafa.. haha
u know sunday - is the mass gathering for all the bangladesh & indian foreigner in s'pore, u can see them everywhere there, they do nothing beside loitering there, bring their own food, chat with friends, etc.. and some does groceries shopping too
as for me... after jogging, damn stink.. i suppose they avoid me, hihi.. and go into mustafa for a walk.. aircon mah, relax a bit
then i saw their watches department.. eh.. i saw the seiko criteria new range, all on display and i ask one of the guy there
picakok : aneh, this range how much har?
mustafa : oh.. new one, which one u like?
picakok : what's the price har, this one.. roughly lar
mustafa : hmm.. about xxx-xxx lar
picakok : oh, ok..lemme think2
damn.. damn.. mustafa open pricing already cheaper sgd40 than the so called authorized distributor, shit..
shit.. kena con again
i learn my lesson... next time Mustafa is my yardstick
long life Mustafa...
i guess i'll get a good seiko watch for my daddy when i'm back home... time to get a present for my daddy cos my daddy always cost concious, will never spend more than RM100 for a watch

oh ya.. after back from taipei/taoyuan and escape from the typhoon saomai, back to work again... u hear me?
haiz... work again
1st 2 days is all about dry meetings
imagine sit inside the meeting room and force yr eyes open wide, cos yr boss is beside you...
oh.. my house's fish tank, at last, at last...
after months of empty tank, at last... new stock coming!
own by my younger sister & one of her many hobbies is fish rearing
louhan, guppies, varieties, etc..
each time... either the fish jump out of the pail (while changing water) to commit suicide or slowly2 the fish all commit suicide 1 by 1 inside the tank
mass suicide?
the last incident... somehow put 2 shrimp inside, then the shrimp eat some of her small fishes
she angry, then transfer that 2 shrimps into a small tank.. then big one eat the small one
and left the big shrimp alone in the small tank
she dun wanna change water, let the big shrimp rot inside.. alas... drop dead
so i keep pestering n teasing her...
"ooi.. got new stocks or not?" (am refering to the new fish)
so... after months of waiting, at last.. the fish came
also bad omen... the next morning, a small blue/red color fish turn turtle
so far for others, still okay...

tYpHoOn - tropical storm
guess my shopping trip this week at taipei will be spoilt by this stupid typhoon, they call it Tropical Storm Bopha.
heavy rain last night with strong wind, how to shop & jalan-jalan?
the weather bureau issue warning that there's 3 typhoon coming. 1 already change direction and move towards Japan
coming is Bopha follow closely by Saomai but there's a blessing in disguise.
Bopha n Saomai moving toward Taiwan but the 'fujiwhara effect' forced Bopha to change its direction from west to southwest and hence, Bopha only hit the southern and southeastern parts - rather than sweep across the whole island, huh!
however.. Saomai is gaining strength and will strengthen its presence at the island this evening, sweeping across northern Taiwan tomorz.
i still thought of skip dinner and walk2, haiz...

taipei/guanyin, taoyuan
1st trip to taiwan office (taipei) is mid February, now is the 2nd trip to taipei but this time the sap project assessment week held in guanyin, taoyuan.
so all the module i attend, full 5 days at guanyin.. can u imagine that?
those finance n controlling, all at taipei office...
actually nothing against guanyin, taoyuan but imagine i need to wake-up early ard 6am, shower and the coach will leave ard 7.10am?
reach the adv tech centre ard 8.30am, huh.. far right?
indeed there's a huge differences between taiwan, hk n greater china compare to our far east and south east region.. u'll notice the downfall of sea n far east while admire the fast rising empire of north east and greater china
this time the weather in taipei is hot, just hot... and a short walk at 'rao-he' market will make you perspire.
my job here this time is to take part in the assessment week for sap project in taiwan and with the tight and pack schedule with long travel distance, i really don't have time for shopping and walking around, wasted...
imagine my boss have his week at taipei office, still got time walk around and take train go places n visit...
guess i'll sneak out n skip dinner one night and walk2..
i already sick of the lunch box and dinner, eat till wanna vomit...the italian food is the most interesting, yummy, classy but the range of appetizer and soup, bread, etc.. already full before the double main course of beef and spaghetti, follow by...
as usual, still the same visit to taipei 101 building
1st visit is valentine day, 2nd visit is father's day (taiwan's father day is in Aug)
here's the lunch box prepared by the secretaries there
normally i'll only finish half...while this christin will always come and disturb me "eat more, eat more.. must gain weight in taiwan"
eat so much rice, damn sleep one... afternoon session, keep drinking plain coffee, still sleep lei.. what do u think?
i tdy also receive an email from my lovely sister ah tear, say tonight celebrating pre-national day, go play mahjong with her boss n other high-hand "gao-shou".
haha... i laugh, laugh and laugh
green horn go there for what?
like sending a sheep to the tiger's mouth, hahaha...
see how she being butchered alive... but i still wish her all the best and win big
i really hope she got enough money to eat till the end of the month...

Rambutan versus Pulasan
k guys, know the differences?
i still remember months back when i'm at m'sia for a biz trip, the colleagues there arguing about the rambutan vs pulasan.
some even call pulasan "mountain lychee"...
oh... interestingly, this pulasan is super rare outside southeast asia and a native to western malaysia.
market price shall be ard RM4 per kg
it is actually a delicious fruit, sweeter than the rambutan and lychee and usually eaten fresh, the seed is softer and less bitter than rambutan, hence to many, the seed of pulasan can be eaten raw too...
ok, here are some of the photos on pulasan vs rambutan
u ppl can sample both and see the differences.

rambutan as usual :
